Successful implementation and closure of CEF action: »AccessPoint deployment (APSMP) and background integration module implementation (BIM)«
We announce the 10th of December 2018 as an official end of the action of successfull developement and implemented an AS4 Access Point along with the Service Metadata Publisher and Background Integration Module as per project objectives and within the scheduled timeline.
The overall purpose of the project was to support the cross-border exchange of electronic documents between both public and private sectors, as well as between such entities and citizens and businesses.
The objectives of the project were:
- deploy and operate an Access Point (AS4) and Service Metadata Publisher, and
- upgrade the existing national eDelivery solution VEP.SI by developing a Background Integration Model to facilitate access to the newly deployed infrastructure for the existing users.
In order for eIUS to fully implement this action and be compliant with the Digital Service Infrastructure (DSI) and policy objectives, it subjected its own VEP.si services & processes to the verification and certification procedure according to the requirements of the eIDAS Regulation to become a qualified trust service provider. The preparations for the certification and the process of verification audits took place from April through July 2017. eIUS successfully passed the certification on 5 July 2017.
The project officially started on 15 May 2017 and was finished 17 months later.
During this time the eIUS team implemented all the planned activities:
1.Set-up of the Access Point (AP) and Service Metadata Publisher (SMP)
2.Background Integration Module (BIM) development
3.AS4 and SMP Operations and maintenance
4.Training and promotion
The biggest hurdle and effort draining activity during the entire project was a proper and correct development of the BIM which included proprietary app server middleware. eIUS managed to overcome the challenges using in-house skills and knowledge.
Through an extensive participation at all the relevant events regarding the qualified e-delivery service, eIUS promoted the action and the newly developed technology now became an essential part of the underlying infrastructure for the products and services provided by eIUS. eIUS participated at four third-party events with a booth stand and lectures, and organized its own event focused on the promotion of AS4 and development of the electronic trust services.
Starting this new year, eIUS expects to see a significant increase in clients using the newly developed AS4 node and underlying protocol.
Introduction of standardized protocol facilitates our Slovenian customers to be connected with other EU member states where the service providers of other AS4 Access Points and Service Metadata Publishers offer the standardized protocols for e-Delivery service.
eIUS d.o.o. wishes all its clients and business partner a successful New Year 2019.
